My Search For Legitimate Work At Home Jobs For Writers

Not so very long ago I reached a crossroad in my career. It was time to get out of the corporate rat race and start actively pursuing  my lifelong goal of becoming a freelance writer. This website  is about my search for legitimate work at home jobs for writers and how I have achieved my dream to release the writer within.

With so many ‘writing & blogging’ job opportunities out there, it has been hard to determine what is real and what is just another scam. I’ve road tested some of the best and also some of the worst ‘blog for $$ sites’ and believe me it’s hard to find those hidden gems that really work! If you’re anything like me, your time is precious and you’ve probably seen your share of internet get rich quick schemes.

Firstly; this website is not peddling get rich quick schemes. If that’s what your looking for, well, you’ve come to the wrong place.

However, if you’re serious about growing a sustainable online affiliate writing business, then this website is for you. Read on…

Believe it or not, there IS a logical pathway to getting started online. Wouldn’t you prefer to follow a step by step process, rather than fumbling around in the dark trying to get all the pieces of the puzzle fit, wondering what pieces you’ve missed? I’d much rather have all the pieces of the puzzle in one place, than spend all of my time and energy making the puzzle, just to get to the end and find that I’ve got one critical piece missing!

My Why.

Writing has always been my passion. Over the years I’ve met and had the pleasure of learning from some talented writers and bloggers in the online writing community. One thing is for sure, without collaboration, sharing of ideas and the genuine support of others, making a dent into this very competitive area is near impossible. Once upon a time, any new business idea was a closely guarded secret, but we’re now in a global information age, where sharing and collaboration and building online communities are the pillars of any online success. You only need to look at how businesses use social media to monitor the pulse & health of their products, brand and their competition.

Personal success is built on collaboration & paying it forward

I’m a firm believer in this ethos, and the values of paying it forward and building a collaborative space where people can realize their full potential in life.

What’s stopping you from achieving your dream?

Is it a fear of failure, or doubt in your knowledge? Or perhaps a lack of time? Perhaps you have no idea where to start? Maybe it’s an assumption that you need a lot of cash up front to get started.

Or even worse, you know where to start, but you simply haven’t; procrastination is the bane of all writers – I know!

Maybe you’ve been burnt by an online get rich quick scam (read about mine in The Ugly below), which has led you to believe that there’s no such thing as an ethical program online.

Believe it or not, building a successful affiliate writing business online requires only four things.

What is an Affiliate Program?

An affiliate program is an automated electronic program that involves a Web advertiser and recruited webmasters. The webmasters, as affiliates, place the company’s advertisements on their individually owned websites. The ads in affiliate programs are linked to company websites and are referred to as affiliate links.

But it can be a jungle out there…

The Good, the bad and the Ugly

As mentioned at the top of this article, I’ve road tested the good, the bad and the downright ugly of affiliate marketing programs & blog for cash systems online.

It’s Ugly Out There! Some years ago I had a very negative experience with Blog Distributor, where I signed up to write paid articles. The upshot was, that I did a LOT of work for this online business, and I churned out a LOT of content for many of their clients. I didn’t even enjoy writing the articles. They weren’t of any interest to me at all, I was spoon fed most of the keywords and content, and the whole process didn’t appeal to my creative side or passion for writing AT all.

To make matters worst, when it came to time for being paid, guess what – I wasn’t! First of all I started with polite requests for payment, then I begged for them to respond to my emails, all for zilch. No replies, nothing. Oh, but they kept sending me more work! In the end, I went back into all the articles I wrote, and at the top of each, I put a statement online about what a scam they were and how they needed to pay up immediately to have the message taken down. I didn’t enjoy doing it… but it did get their attention! And I did get paid. I know that there were other writers out there who did not. Needless to say, I didn’t receive any more work from them after that point and we parted ways.

Finding an ethical affiliate system is like a breath of fresh air. In more recent times, I’ve had the pleasure of being introduced to Wealthy Affiliate. My goodness, what a contrast. Not only have I tried out their system for free, I’m constantly amazed by the collaborative support from their online community. Their vision of paying it forward and helping others is aligned perfectly with my own values.

The pieces of the puzzle just fell into place

That’s right. Wealthy Affiliates has given me all the puzzle pieces to make my dream of online success a reality, and believe me, it’s a fantastic feeling. Their starter package is cram packed full of training, resources and help to get you up and running with your own online business – AND amazingly it’s FREE! There’s even TWO free websites to their starter package! This means that you can road test a LOT of the functionality without even paying a cent. It’s pretty impressive.

I sure agree with you that there are too many scams out there making it difficult to find the legitimate online home working opportunities. Looking for a LEGIT way to earn online is like looking for a needle in a haystack. UGH!

But I’m glad to have come across your article, because writing for an income is something that I seriously want to do, plus blogging comes across as so much FUN at the same time. 🙂 Making money from writing about your passion and getting enjoyment from it is seriously a no-brainer. There are so many unhappy people in jobs who are broke, that they don’t realize the web can provide an opportunity to break free from the norm and work towards accomplishing dreams.

Affiliate writing is definitely a step in the right direction for ANYONE who wants to change their life, and Wealthy Affiliate certainly seems like that missing jigsaw piece for financial freedom.

Hi Cody, great to connect on here with a fellow Wealthy Affiliate member 🙂 Yip, I originally joined because I have five websites that I manage and the email and web hosting worked out so much less than what I was paying.
